Every two years the Olympics provides a relatively weak excuse to buy a new TV. This year, NBC's announcement that more than 240 hours of its 2012 Summer Games coverage will be available in 3D strengthens that excuse a little.
If you've been considering using the pagentry of amateur athletics as part of your TV purchase justification, allow me to suggest a few TVs consistent with that goal. I'll qualify the headline by saying these are good TVs for watching everything. I'm not recommending them just because they're somehow better at showing sports like swimming, fencing, taekwondo or beach volleyball than other TVs.
