Appeals court nixes Galaxy Nexus ban in Apple patent war

Samsung got a much-need break from the courts today in a decision overturning a preliminary injunction against its Galaxy Nexus phone.


Today's ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit found that the district court in California "abused its discretion" in ordering a preliminary ban against the Nexus.


The decision from the appeals court means that the case will go back to the court in California to be reheard, according to Reuters.


After filing a patent infringement suit against Samsung early this year, Apple asked the court to ban the sales of infringing products, including the Nexus. U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh granted Apple's request. But the appeals court extended a delay on the sales ban of the Nexus until it could reach a final decision.
